Tips to Having a Safe and Happy Halloween

Like many things this year, Halloween may be a bit different in your community. COVID-19 has made us all think a little differently about celebrating the holiday safely. Here are a few tricks you can do to have a safe celebration.

Avoid Crowds - It’s a theme that we’ve heard for months, and like always, if you’re out trick-or-treating, avoid large crowds at doorsteps. If there is trick-or-treating in your neighborhood, remind your children to avoid gathering with large crowds while getting their treats.

Wear a Creative Mask - Get creative and decorate your cloth masks to match costumes. Experts advise not wearing your cloth mask under another mask; it might make it difficult to breathe.

Set up a Candy Station - This year, you’ll want to hand out candy in a way that keeps distance between yourself and the kids. Consider wrapping treats individually and setting them on a table to avoid spreading germs. There are also some great, creative ideas online if you’re feeling inspired.

Have a Virtual Costume Party - If you’re not going out this year, you can still show off your costumes. Invite friends and family to a virtual costume party.

Dress up for a Spooky Movie - Stay in and celebrate as a family. Dress up and have a Halloween movie marathon.

Have a Scavenger Hunt - Another alternative to trick-or-treating would be to have a scavenger hunt for candy in your home or yard. It’s a fun way for kids to celebrate and still get their treats. Plus, mom and dad get to stay warm inside.

And to add some more fun and excitement, enter our Halloween giveaway on Instagram. There's nothing spooky about this giveaway. On October 29th, 30th, and 31st, tell us your favorite Halloween Movie. On November 1st we will announce 3 lucky winners to receive a HidrateSpark STEEL smart water bottle!

If you’re going out trick-or-treating, make sure that your children wear some reflective tape and carry a flashlight so that they will be seen. Also, it’s always good to eat a big, healthy meal before heading out into the neighborhood (they might not devour as much candy with full tummies).

Even though it’s a strange year, you can still get creative and show your kids a great time this Halloween, whether it’s at home or safely in the neighborhood.

Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
